Plastic Beach

Jag Week continues with a trip to the Plastic Beach!

Striped shirts and monkey shoes set.

The most recent Gorillaz album as a whole is one of the best albums I've heard all year. It's magic. It makes me wanna throw punches in the air. It makes me wanna move.

special guest appearances after the jump...

Bobby Womack, believe it!

Little Dragon and Damon Albarn. Love it!

One of my favorite images of the night.

I had the great pleasure of catching the Gorillaz on their Plastic Beach tour in April at Coachella. But they were the main act of Sunday night, and we had to drive from Palm Springs to catch flights back to HK Monday morning, so we couldn't stick around. I saw a little and was alarmed at the fact that you could actually see the band! Back in the day they were famous for never being seen, and instead the show was performed by cartoon monkeys. An intense multimedia experience.

Well now Damon Albarn and friends are not afraid to show their faces, and the multimedia experience remains. The style and imagery in the show alone was worth it, then add to it collaborative musical genius, and it's a party. Oh yeah, we were tearing it up on the dance floor.

Here's to more good live music in Hong Kong!
