8 + My Closet Application

Dress from Nordstrom rack
FYI these are my fashion choices from last week.  I think I'm up to Wednesday and it appears that I was too tired to deal (more on that in another post) and just wanted to thrown on a dress and get on with my day.

Before I lose my entire readership, perhaps I could entice you with an application I've been using called MyCloset.

I have been DREAMING for just over half my lifetime of a computer program that could style outfits and itemize a wardrobe like the movie Clueless.  Half my lifetime.

It only occurred to me last month that I should do some research.  It's 2011, surely a comparable program has to be out there!  And there are some, but I'm a busy lady and don't have a whole lot of time for wardrobe management.  So I took this search a step forward.  Clearly, there must be an app for that!

It's possible that the equivalent iphone app is better, but the one I use on my beloved android is simple and good enough for me.

MyCloset, which is free on the android market is very very basic.  You enter your wardrobe items (meaning you need to take a picture of everything individually) and coordinate your outfits on the calendar.  Categories include: tops, bottoms, outerwear, accessories, shoes, and other.  This is actually quite limiting and probably my only complaint.  For me and prob just about everyone else, tops would include dresses, sweaters, vests, and even under the category of shirts there's tanks, tube tops, blouses, button downs...  Yes, possibly my only complaint.

Once you got your wardrobe in there, or at least enough to get you started, you can sort things by color, note what you wore on what day and also sort by how frequent you wear something.  I know I know, it's totally geeky, but simultaneously totally fab.

H&M striped tee / Old Navy camo shorts
Two very big nights out (I'm talking dancing queens and past 4 AM people) this is all you get for a Sunday.  It was Singapore wedding photo swap night, and I wasn't convinced until the very last second I was well enough to show up.  But I'm glad I did.  I swear, Sunday hangovers used to be cuter.

End of the Season Dball Party

i. love. them.
Before the end of the season dodgeball party at Pi, we had our own team celebration at The Globe.  We were instructed to wear black, and there would be some surprises for us.  I had a sneaking suspicion we'd be wearing JUNXEDOS!  Coach Dominador presented us with our own personal medals before we received our Division 3 bronze medal and team spirit award.

The night was pretty epic.  I got very drunk.  And then after it all we got some kebabs and somehow recruited the kebab guy to play with us!

Please enjoy our association's highlight real with plenty of appearances by Junk Shot, and even a special feature of me :)

My cousin and  his GF just got engaged and we celebrated on not one, but two rooftop bars that evening!  And yes, it is a bit windy at the top...

Slack Lust Magazine: Housewives Edition

My dear friend, former co-worker, writer and artist Stacy Elaine Dacheux co-founded the online magazine Slack Lust, and asked me to contribute.  Stacy has always encouraged my creative pursuits, and I jumped at the chance to work with her again.

Slack Lust is an online magazine based in Los Angeles dedicated to cultural investigations. Contributors are artists, writers, actors and musicians who aim to discover more so than promote.

I have always (ok since that road trip in 2005) said that our stories must be told, and the editors of Slack Lust have compiled relevant pieces from amazing talent for your reading pleasure.  I hope you will take a look around, and maybe take a peek at my article Made in Hong Kong: Real Housewives.  Let me know what you think!

I'm pretty much over the work elevator self portraits.  I hope it doesn't offend you as much as it offends me.  Here it is.  Day 2 of the 30 x 30 challenge.  Wanted to go for something a little more fun.  I hardly ever wear this dress, which is why I included it in the challenge.  I also got complemented on it by some creepy old man in yet another ride in this lift.

The shoes are not on the "30" list because they live in the office.  And that doesn't count.

Day 1 is easy.  There's tons to choose from.  I need to find a better self portrait spot.  The door-people must think I'm a nut.

Bronze

Junk Shot 10 vs The Incrediballs 7
Last night was a great game and it's not just because we won the bronze.

What I Wore: Washables

Sweater: Old Navy / Dress: some HK Market / Shoes: Aerosoles / Necklace: LogOn
It's kinda sad that I have to budget my dry cleaning, but if I didn't my weekly laundry bills would deplete my cocktail budget, and we can't have that.  I force myself a couple of times during the week to wear some washable items.  Everything pictured is 1-3 years old.  And those shoes reside under my desk so I can commute in flip flops.  Commence judging now.  At least I got a good pic of the carpet.

What I Wore: The Ride to Work

Tank: Ann Taylor, Skirt: Banana Republic, Belt: Banana (old), Bag: A Che
I don't have a personal photographer or space for a nice tripod shot at home.  So get used to the creative self portraits.  I'm sure building security gets a kick out of me taking self portraits in the lift!

Team Junk Shot, Team Streetfighter
How could a dodgeball team that looks this awesome lose?  Yeah, I don't know either...

Bologne Lunch with a View

I've been meaning to try this place forevers. There's a location right by my friend's place in Central (technically Sheung Wan on that side of the street) and one close to work. Bologne is a Japanese restaurant, that makes Danish bread, located in Hong Kong?  I have no idea how this relates to bologne, but the bread is delish!

HK Style: Big Bad Mullet Edition

I wish this were a clearer picture.  I wish you could have experienced this mullet in its full glory.  It amazes me that the mullet is not an extinct or even rare species, and can be found in its natural habitat all over the globe!  There's the Euro mullet, the Asian mullet, and the good ol 'merican mullet.  May you live long and prosper, and if you're out there, I'll hunt you down and post you on my blog!

A Shout Out from Skinny Runner

Back in April I got a very nice shout out from the lovely Skinny Runner. She's a talented runner and all around fun gal, and I'm a big fan of her blog.  If running is your thing, check it out for sure.  Thanks SR!

It's June!

Passing the Aqua Luna on the ride home.  Life is good.
Where has this year gone?  It's been flying by and I hope I've done something worthwhile with the first 6 months of my 30s...

Rice Paper

Rice Paper is one of my favorite restaurants and more specifically, it has one of my favorite dishes: Veggie Curry.  I could drink it for days.  I also love the fresh baguettes.  It's a cute place with outdoor seating right on the harbor.  The other dishes are tasty too, but I don't usually stray from this curry :)
