New Year's Day Monkey Hike

The game plan for New Year's day was the 10th annual 10k race around Cheung Chau island.  As you might have guessed, after all that delicious champagne (and a little bourbon too. I'm weak.) it was def not gonna happen.

Plan B, after the jump

Plan B.  Less strenuous but at least we got moving and absorbed some sunshine.  It was a monkey hike on monkey hill.  This time around, I didn't bother taking any pictures of the wildlife, but I have one monkey picture for you here.  Last time in September there were TONS of monkeys everywhere, but maybe it's too cold in January for them to be out.  Or perhaps they're just hungover from NYE.  We still saw a handful of monkeys and this.  A contraception cage?

Is PETA aware of this?

In more weirdness, look what we found on the trail.  Ewwwww!

Even though I rotated this pics, they still came out horizontal.  I gave up.  Sorry.  You'll have to deal.  But I still like this sign.  A challenge!

Part wildlife adventure, part historical hike, this is a really cool route.  We came across some war time tunnels.

Finishing at a reservoir.

A cool door with lame chain link fence.

Not bad for the first day of the year.
