Walkin in Memphis

Put on my blue suede shoes and I boarded a plane
Touchdown in the land of the delta blues in the middle of a pouring rain...

You know the song. It's a little something like that.

I arrived in Memphis today with Turnipseed. We're going to rule this badass town. The air's real thick here. You know, like a sauna. Lord help us.

Our hotel's pretty cool. An old, beautiful art deco building four blocks away from Beale Street and overlooking the Mississippi. To celebrate our arrival and the next few weeks here, we went to see 1408. So if I call you in the middle of the night all freaked out, you know why. There's gotta be ghosts around here somewhere.

It wouldn't be a day in the South if we didn't O.D. a little on the soul food. Today we shared fried dill pickles, hush puppies, cornbread with super yummy honey butter, and chicken fried chicken over white mac and cheese. You are jealous, and I'm in trouble.

One day down, and no sign of any other Asians.
