Brian returned to his home in Korea, and I fled Los Angeles as well. It was time for a little family vacation to San Francisco. My cousin's son was getting baptised, so used that as an excuse to venture north. It was also my sister's 21st birthday. A few years ago we had planned to go to New Orleans, because when we went previously we had to leave my sister alone with the television when we went out at night. Well, Hurricane Katrina pummeled those dreams and we escaped to Napa instead.
We flew from Burbank to Oakland, rented a car, and headed towards our hotel in the Embarcadero.
I think of Meredith every time I go over a bridge.

A cool scuplture.
Watching some ice skaters rehearse.
One of my favorite pics from the trip.
In honor of Lorelei's former band, Larkspur.
Was I sleeping?
It might as well be kryptonite.
Beautiful at night.
A display inside the hotel.
My mom taking a picture of the display.
It was a pretty intense hotel.
Dinner at Chevys.
Gavin, the newly christened joy.
From there we headed to Napa.
An excellent dinner at Tuscany.
After dinner, we went back to the hotel and watched The Interpreter. We took a quick time out from the movie and sung happy birthday to my sister, and returned for the dramatic conclusion of the film.
Happy 21!
The next day we caught the wine train.
Remember, A day without wine is like a day without sunshine.
